fun-in-the-texas-hill-country

The perfect trip to the Texas Hill Country starts and ends with Texas wine, of course, but there is so much to Hill Country than just amazing wines of all styles. To help you plan your trip out to Hye, Chris and Katharine Brundrett have shared some of their favorites.

Best Breakfast

This place has been around FOREVER, or at least since we moved to the area. It’s located in the basement of a two-story limestone building that was built in 1878, and used to be the old town hospital. They serve all three of your daily meals, but we like their breakfast the best. Their Hill Country Duck Hash absolutely cannot be missed.

When We're Drinking, But It's Not Wine...

This place has it all. Excellent cocktails, incredible food, cool ambience, indoor and outdoor seating. Bonus: It also has chickens! Chase’s Place was opened during the pandemic by our brave friends Tara & Chase Guthrie. Chase was one of our first friends when we moved to Fredericksburg in 2007, and then Tara ran our marketing (and more) for many years. Even if we didn’t have a personal connection, we’d love this place for all of the reasons I listed above. You must go!!

I have to admit, I’ve never been here… I obviously need to get out sans kids more often 😅. BUT when Chris and I were discussing what we’d recommend people to do that is not wine or food related, this spot was the first thing that popped into his mind! It’s a small bar with really loud rock music – Chris says der Daiwel a must.
