2024 Merlot – Robert Clay Vineyard

Vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, red clay, gardenias, dried lavendar, and anise roll out easily, especially as the wine opens up. The palate is a delightful surprise, with rhubarb, cranberry, citrus peel, chalky tannins, and a medium body. This should develop nicely in bottle.

Two barrels total. Aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 16 months. Both barrels were blended together into neutral oak barrels to integrate for another month prior to bottling.

Pair with a simple dish that's well-made and framed by quality butter, good salt, or a fat component.

Robert Clay Vineyard, Mason County. Established in 1996, Robert Clay Vineyards was founded by Paul and Nancy Buist, pioneers in Texas viticulture, nurturing 15 acres of vines. In 2012, Dan & Jeanie McLaughlin took over the vineyard for the Buist's and eventually bought it, expanding the vineyard to 18 acres. At Robert Clay, everything is done by hand with the utmost care and attention.
