Tasting Notes

Honey, date, prune and toffee feel like they're rolled together in jasmine sticky rice. Intensely aromatic, but with bright notes of citrus oil and clementine cake. The palate is lusciously sweet with a balancing mouth-watering effect that lingers past the sweetness. Full-bodied.

Winemaking

Varieties: 75% Malvasia Bianca (white), 25% Black Spanish (red).

Picked late for high sugars. Brandy was added during the last third of fermentation to halt the process, retaining natural grape sugars. Aged in 100% neutral oak barrels for an average of 6 years.

Food Pairing

Roasted meats in sweet & spicy barbecue sauce or desserts like caramel flan.

The Vineyard

Lloyd VineyardCounties: Terry and Smith

In 2010, the Seaton & Furgeson couples planted 30 acres of grapevines to add to their collection of acres dedicated to cotton, grains, pumpkins, melons, and more. Dedicated to warm-climate grape varieties, the eight generations farming this land champion the idea of wine as a product of honest labor. Lloyd Vineyard is in Tyler, Texas, and was dedicated to one of the grapes that succeed along the Gulf Coast—Black Spanish (also known as Jacquez!)
