Tasting Notes

Juicy apricot and quince with cream and fresh floral open up the aroma before hints of toasted almond and golden berries. The palate is medium-bodied, with tension between brightness and roundness that compliments the fruity-floral nature of the wine. Do not over-chill.

Winemaking

Fermentation in stainless steel tank. Full malolactic conversion. Aged in 20% new French oak barrels and 80% neutral barrels for 10 months. Light lees stirring.

Food Pairing

Pair with creamy seafood dishes, lemon risotto, and savory semi-soft cheeses such as Mobay.

The Vineyard

AVA: Texas High Plains

Established in 2010 by Mike and Barbara Paddack with the help of Texas grape-growers Andy and Lauren Timmons, who also currently manage the 120 acres. The different grape varieties are planted on a special soil combination that is calcareous, organic, sandy loam over limestone that is just 2-3 feet deep in some blocks. The wines are aromatic and fresh in style.

La Pradera Vineyard, Terry County, Texas High Plains AVA. Age of Vines: 15 years. Soil Type: Amarillo fine sandy loam over limestone base. Elevation: 3,300 ft.
