Tasting Notes
Boasts balanced, robust tannins and loads of perfectly ripe dark berry fruit, including blueberry compote, alongside sweet and savory spices, and pure, natural, balanced acidity that keeps this wine grippy, fresh, and bright. The tannins are massive and powerful. - Review by Jonathan Cristaldi
Winemaking
Fermented in concrete vessels for 11 days. Aged in 100% neutral French oak barrels for 24 months.
Food Pairing
Pair with marbled meats that are grilled, truffle risotto, and mature cheeses.
The Vineyard
In 2017 Johnny Sanchez and father-in-law Doug Wilcox planted 12 acres of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Tannat a stone's throw from Hye in Stonewall, Texas. The close proximity to William Chris allows for our team to work together to showcase the best fruit from this site, home to the limestone layers that run through the old Pedernales River Basin.
Vintage Press Vineyard, Gillespie County, Texas Hill Country AVA. Age of Vines: 7 years. Soil Type: Clay loam over limestone. Elevation: 1,516 ft.
