Tasting Notes

Very fruity, with cherry, strawberry, and wild mint notes alongside a plethora of garden herb aromas. A deep stone aroma comes through the ripe fruit. The palate leans into the mineral, earth, and tarter red cranberry notes, with gentle medium tannins and savory acidity.

Winemaking

Fermented in large oak fermenter and stainless steel tank. Aged for 16 months in 15% new French oak barrels and 85% neutral oak barrels.

Food Pairing

Pair with duck or quail, ratatouille, and nutty cheeses such as an Edam or Gouda.

The Vineyard

Alta Loma Vineyard is a spectacular growing site in Terry County, owned and farmed by the Burran and Floyd families. Established in 2016 with fewer than 10 acres of Syrah and Sangiovese, they have since planted two more varieties that have proven sustainability in the region, including Mourvèdre. Their sandy loam soil is well-drained, suited to the hardy varieties they've selected to plant.
