Tasting Notes
Perfectly ripe black currant, smoked black plum, and exotic spices like anisette all come out on the wine's aroma. A hazelnut coffee aroma leads into dense-but-lifted kiln-dried wood aromas. The palate is full, less fruity than it is mineral/earthy, with firm, lush tannins that coat.

The Vineyard
AVA: Texas Hill Country
The thick-skinned Tannat grape was originally planted in 2012 and again in 2015 at Hye Estate, and those Tannat blocks were named 'June' and 'Tess' after co-founder Chris Brundrett's young daughters. Hye Estate is home to about 6.5 total acres of grapevines, rooted in nitrogen-rich soil previously at the bottom of a riverbed. That, combined with a limestone base, has made for powerful grapes with incredible aromatics.
