The Vineyard

La Pradera Vineyards was converted to wine grapes in 2010. Owned by the Paddacks and managed by Andy Timmons, these 100 acres of grapes in Terry County are planted to varieties that grow sustainably in Texas. In addition to their location on a raised, flat plain, these grapes thrive in a special soil content of calcareous, highly organic Amarillo sandy loam over a limestone base.

Sourced from Lahey Vineyard, Lost Draw Vineyard, and Dell Valley Vineyard (15% - Hudspeth County), across the Texas High Plains AVA -- the second largest designated grape-growing region in Texas, spanning 8 million acres, with growing conditions including 3,000-4,000 feet elevation on a flat, high sandy plain. Age of Vines: 8-17 years. Soil Type: Sandy loam to clay and limestone base. Elevation: 3,300 ft.
