Tasting Notes

A stunningly floral nose, with violet and dried rose, matched by fresh cherries in syrup, and fresh aromatic herbs like sage. The palate is primed to develop over time, with singing acidity, a firm tannin structure, and medium alcohol and body.

Winemaking

Fermented in stainless steel tank for 15 days. Aged in 15% new French oak barrels and 85% neutral oak barrels for 17 months.

Food Pairing

Pair with light game such as rabbit or duck, and Portobello mushroom schnitzel.

The Vineyard

Vineyard: Crookshouse Block at Farmhouse Vineyards. In 2010 the Seaton & Furgeson brother and sister-in-law combo planted 30 acres of grapevines to add to their collection of acres dedicated to cotton, grains, pumpkins, melons and more. Dedicated to warm climate grape varieties, the 8 generations who are currently farming this land in the Texas High Plains champion the idea of wine as a heavily farmed product of honest labor. Age of Vines: 12 years. Soil Type: Amarillo fine sandy loam. Elevation: 3,300 ft.
