Tasting Notes

Velvety plum and blackberry compote aromas with red strawberry coming through on the palate. Wilting sage notes and gravel make the wine feel inviting and rich. The palate is guided by a juicy acidity, a burst of cherry and an earthy finish. Light, sandy tannins and a medium body.

Winemaking

The Cinsaut fermented in large oak fermentor while the Mourvèdre fermented in stainless steel tank. Aged in 15% new oak barrels for 24 months before blending and bottling.

Food Pairing

Pair with a classic hamburger and game bird such as quail.

The Vineyard

Moonlight Vineyard is less than 10 acres established in Brownfield by George and Peggy Seely (2014), one of many vineyards in Terry County. Miss Peggy worked with Andy Timmons (a well-established grower in the Texas High Plains) for years before planting her own red and white varieties. It is one of the few Texas vineyards recognized as sustainable by the BioTech Research Institute. Age of Vines: 8 years. Soil Type: Amarillo fine sandy loam over limestone. Elevation: 3,200 ft.
