Tasting Notes
Oh, refreshing Tannat! Fresh red fruit on the palate, ripe raspberry, red cherry, a little minty and herbal, with earthy notes of chicory. Whimsical and easy-drinking alongside something salty or buttery. The palate is super-dry, with a medium body and acidity that lifts and lightens.
Winemaking
Fermented in stainless steel tank for 8 days. Aged in 100% neutral oak barrels for 24 months.
Food Pairing
Pair with white bean chili, grilled endive salad with a dulce blue cheese, and turkey pot pie.
The Vineyard
Loyal Valley Vineyard, Texas Hill Country AVA. The Fowler family planted their vineyard in Mason County in 2008. Their vines are now strong and tolerant to the varying conditions of the Texas Hill Country, possibly due to the well-drained fine sandy soil that they're planted on over the Hickory aquifer. The vineyard has just under 4 acres of Mourvèdre, Tempranillo, Tannat, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Elevation: 1,500 ft. Soil: Hickory sand, decomposed granite over limestone. Age of vines: 12 years.
