Tasting Notes

A stunning and full aroma that is both sweet and sour, with stewed candied cranberries, juicy blue raspberry, almond cream and nugget, molasses, and cream of Earl grey tea. The palate is grippy and blue-fruited with tea and tar notes. Subtle wisps of spearmint and coffee.

Winemaking

Macerated for a week on the skins after a 2-day cold soak. Fermented in stainless steel and oak fermenters for 15 days before aging for 21 months in 30% new French oak barrels and 70% neutral barrels.

The Vineyard

AVA: Texas High Plains

Owned by Barbara Paddack and Andy and Lauren Timmons, who also own the 18 acres of Timmons Estate Vineyard in the same County. The over 100 acres of vines at La Pradera are planted on a special soil combination: calcareous, organic, Amarillo sandy loam soil over limestone. Both sites are dedicated to grapes that can grow sustainably in the semi-arid conditions of the Texas High Plains.

Elevation: 3,300 ft. Soil: Amarillo fine sandy loam over limestone base. Vines planted in 2010.
