2020 Cinsaut – Texas High Plains

Light and jewel-toned in color, with a rush of apple and spice aromas, clove, and a hint of savory undertones. Dry, medium-bodied, light silky tannins.

Fermented in separate lots in large oak fermenter for 5 days. Aged separately for 19 months in concrete egg and 10% new French oak barrel. Aged 7 months on the lees.

Stewed or braised meats with earth-tones of root vegetable, tomato, cinnamon, and curry.

The Texas High Plains is the second largest designated grape-growing region in Texas, spanning 8 million acres, yet it is responsible for the majority of the wine grapes grown in the state. A rare set of growing conditions make this area unique. On a vast flat plain, the vineyards reach elevations of 3,000 to 5,000 feet, resulting in very balanced wines. Harvest: Machine-harvested 08/12-09/28 on four dates. Soil: Amarillo fine sandy loam, limestone base. Altitude: 3,100-3,600 ft.
