2011 Merlot – Granite Hill Vineyard, 500 Block

Black fruit, mulberry, and blueberries are layered under the minerality of decomposed granite, red clay, and iron ore, with a note of tar on the nose. The finish is soft with a velvety texture. Drink now, or cellar 3 to 5 years for the real deal.

Aged 16 months in 85% first and second-year Eastern European oak, 10% second-year French oak, and 5% new American Minnesota oak.
