2018 Malbec – Hye Estate Vineyard

Variety: 100% Malbec

Fermented in stainless steel tanks for 8 days. Aged in 30% new French oak barrels and 70% neutral oak barrels for 18 months. 

ABV: 31.1% | pH: 3.76 | TA: 5.80 g/L | RS: 0.39 g/L 

Serve at 60°F | Decant

Braised meats, game, and nutty hard cheese with 6-12 months age.

AVA: Texas Hill Country

Hye Estate was planted in 2012 on seven of the 20 acres of William Chris Vineyards in the city of Hye. Previously home to a family with a generous turkey population, the land is now uniquely nitrogen-rich, clay dried river basin over limestone bedrock. Hye Estate has been home to Malbec, Mourvedre, and Petit Verdot, but was planted entirely to Tannat in 2021.
